Jodhpur Blue Houses

India’s very own blue city, Jodhpur is also known as the “Gateway to Thar”. Jodhpur gives you a sense of stepping back in time. It is as raw and authentic as it gets to the real Indian culture, unlike most of the tourist places in Rajasthan. It is the second largest city in Rajasthan. The blue houses are just a small part of Jodhpur, mainly are Hidden in the streets of the old city, in the vicinity of the Mehrangarh Fort.

How To Reach The Blue Houses –

The closest area to reach the blue houses by cab/bike is called Navchokiya. You can take a cab, rickshaw or a bike to Navchokiya and walk into the lanes with the blue houses from there.

Why Are The Houses Painted Blue –

There are many different theories about why the houses are painted blue. One of them being the blue keeps the houses cool during the scorching summers in Rajasthan which can reach upto mid 40s during peak summers.
